1 Hour Wine Hero MINI-COURSE
Wine is for pleasure. For too long there has been a cultural myth that wine is only for those with “educated palates”…but here’s the truth: you don’t need to be taught what flavors you like…you already know. It’s time to take the anxiety and intimidation out of the conversation about wine. But with more than 65,000 wine producers in the world, where do you start? And when you do find a wine you like... how can you find another wine like it? In this 1-hour recorded mini-course, you’ll learn the insider shortcuts on how to find wine you love and feel like a boss drinking it.
Complementary or Congruent
We make decisions about how to match food flavors every day. Tea with lemon or milk? Chicken nuggets with barbecue sauce or ranch? In some cases, we group flavors - and foods - together because they are congruent to each other, like popcorn with a buttery Chardonnay. In other cases, we prefer complementary flavors, like a spicy Thai dish contrasted with a sweeter Riesling. This course will teach you how to apply principles you already practice
to your wine selection.
The Flavor Families
Sweet, dry, fruity, oaky, rich, delicate, light, heavy…these are all words used to describe different wine flavors. Once you’ve found a few wines that you like, you can use what you know about their flavor profiles to find “sister wines” that you’re likely to enjoy also.
Looking Cool with Minimal Effort
Reserva. Ripasso. Riddled. Ok, so sometimes it helps to know a little of the jargon. (And let's face it, it's fun to show off your wine smarts.) I'll teach you some easy tips and techniques that can boost your Cool Quotient.

Before signing up for The Wine Playbook, finding wines I liked was completely hit and miss. Now I have the words to describe what I enjoy and I feel confident in my wine choices. Best of all, I'm drinking much better wine without spending a fortune.

360 million glasses of Champagne or sparkling wine are consumed on New Years Eve

Hi there, my name is Michelle+ I Have a Passion for Wine
Trained as an engineer and raised in a dry household, I was not a likely candidate to become a Wine Adventurer. After the early days of white zinfandel and Paul Mason in a carafe, my palate followed a common progression to California chardonnays, Washington State rieslings, and whichever under $8 red wine from the grocery store had a pretty label on the bottle.
But then, love struck hard, in a glass of (then) hard-to-find Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc.
The open bottle, obtained in a wine auction and leftover from a family dinner a few nights earlier, was pulled out to sip during Thanksgiving Eve preparations. Thoughts of turkey were put on hold once the crisp aromas of grapefruit and lime wafted up from the glass. The pale straw-green wine hit my tongue with a bracing tingle of acid and flavors of otherworldly citrus.
This was no ordinary glass of wine; it was a rocket ride of flavor.
That was nearly 20 years ago, and my palate was never the same again. Aside from running my marketing business, one of my greatest delights is helping other people discover that lightning bolt wine for themselves.
Isn't it time to start your wine adventure?
